Beating "Senioritis" & Planning Your Senior Portraits

So you’re speeding toward high school graduation. Finals are looming, your senioritis is kicking into high gear, prom is right around the corner, and your future—college, career, travel—is dangling just beyond the horizon. It’s a busy time, no doubt. But tucked into this whirlwind of memories and milestones is something that often gets pushed to the back burner: your senior portraits.

Let’s be honest—those stiff, awkward yearbook photos taken in the school gym under fluorescent lights? Not exactly how you want to be remembered.

That’s where I come in.

I’m here to make sure your senior portraits are more than just pictures—they’re a reflection of who you are at this pivotal moment. We’ll create images that celebrate where you’ve been, who you’ve become, and where you’re headed next.

Your Story, Your Shoot

This isn’t about cookie-cutter poses or forced smiles. Our first step is to sit down and talk. What’s your thing? Maybe you’re all about your guitar, camera, sketchbook—or maybe you dominate on the soccer field or track. Bring it. Literally. We’ll incorporate what you love into your session.

Do you have a favorite pair of jeans you’ve broken in over the years? A band tee that’s practically vintage at this point? Your senior shoot should include the clothes that make you feel like you. We’ll make it happen, whether your vibe is bold and edgy or laid-back and classic.

Planning a Personalized Experience

Once we’ve figured out what represents you, we’ll map out your shoot. Locations in Sonoma County and Napa Valley offer an insane amount of variety—rolling vineyards, rustic barns, golden fields, artsy downtowns. Whether you want natural lighting and a boho vibe, or clean lines and a modern feel, we’ll scout the right spots together.

We’ll also talk about timing. The best light is usually early morning or just before sunset—what photographers call the “golden hour.” And don’t worry about how to pose or what to do with your hands (seriously, everyone worries about that)—I’ll guide you every step of the way.

Planning a Personalized Experience

Let’s be real for a second. You’ve got a lot going on, so here’s some quick advice:

  • Book early. Dates fill fast in spring. You don’t want to scramble last minute while juggling exams and graduation events.

  • Think ahead. Want to include your college swag? Bring that sweatshirt or flag.

  • Be yourself. Don’t try to copy what others are doing online. Your best photos come when you feel comfortable and confident.

  • Get some sleep. You’ll look and feel better if you’re rested—and you’ll thank yourself later.

  • Bring backup. Outfit changes, hairbrush, makeup touch-ups—prep like a pro.

Capturing This Moment Forever

This is more than a photo shoot. It’s a celebration of the end of one chapter and the beginning of something entirely new. It’s the image you’ll share on your grad announcements, your socials, your family’s living room wall. It’s the photo you’ll look back on when you’re halfway through your freshman year of college, missing home just a little.

My goal? To make sure these photos reflect your personality, your achievements, and your dreams. I’ll handle the angles, lighting, editing, and everything in between—so you can focus on enjoying the experience.

Let's Make It Happen

All it takes to get started is a quick message to me, Adrian Tamblin. The semester is flying by, and before you know it, you'll be walking across that stage, flipping your tassel, and tossing your cap in the air.

Let’s create something unforgettable—together.
